Mhairi Hedderwick

Grannie Island is unimpressed with Granma Mainland’s swanky city ways until Katie Morag hatches an ingenious plan that may defuse the tension between the family matriarchs. A prize sheep, a muddy loch and the secret to Granma Mainland’s silvery white hairdo all play key roles in this wryly funny tale of a family culture clash. The two grannies are chalk and cheese: Granma Mainland is all fancy clothes and expensive perfumes while Grannie Island trundles around on her tractor in dungarees and wellies. For my money, the second Katie Morag book is the best.
