Places Books Take Us (Secondary)

This year, you’ve been on a great journey with reading and it’s worth celebrating!

Although you’re currently separated from the young people you work with, there’s lots you can do to celebrate books and reading! We’ve gathered a number of different creative activities around the theme places books take us which can be completed from home to help your young people continue to enjoy the magic of reading.

These include:

  • Zine making
  • Desert island books
  • Reading travel guide, with recommendations of books set in countries across the world

Reading offers us an escape, a way to travel without leaving our homes, visit impossible places and live countless lives. We hope that the young people you work with can travel far and wide inside their books, and that these activities will inspire them on their journey.

This resource is suitable for secondary school aged children. If you work with younger children you can try the primary resource.
