Funding

The First Minister's Reading Challenge has four funds available to support primary and secondary schools, public libraries and community groups to develop a reading culture.

For secondary schools: Creative Workshops will offer funding to invite an author, illustrator, storyteller or poet to work with pupils. Alternatively, you could go for a more creative approach, such as using your funding to invite a filmmaker to create book recommendation videos with pupils.

Applications for this fund close on Thursday 18 November 2021. For further information on the fund, see: Creative Workshops.

For primary schools: Inspiring Classrooms offers funding to invite an author, illustrator, storytelling or poet into your classroom to work with pupils and to buy books or other resources to make the most of the visit.

Applications for this fund close on Thursday 18 November 2021. For further information on the fund, see: Inspiring Classrooms.

For public libraries: The Library Fund is available to help public libraries engage local children and young people with reading for pleasure. Libraries can apply to receive a grant to create a project of their choice that includes an author visit and reading materials for children taking part.

Applications for this fund close on Thursday 18 November 2021. For further information on the fund, see: Library Fund.

For community groups:

The Community Fund is available to help community groups inspire the children and young people they work with to read for pleasure. Community groups can apply to receive a grant to create a project of their choice that includes an author visit and reading materials for children taking part.
