What to include in your Reading Challenge submission

School library

We know that lots of plans will have been interrupted due to school closures and lockdown, but we still want to celebrate the brilliant work you've been doing this year for the First Minister's Reading Challenge. If your class or group have done any of the following - or any similar activities - we'd still love to hear from you, even if your final submission doesn't look exactly as you'd hoped.

  • made time for reading
  • created a comfy reading area or interesting display
  • helped children and young people choose books that suit their interests
  • written book reviews or used our Reading Passports
  • enjoyed an author or illustrator event, whether in person or through Authors Live
  • celebrated Book Week Scotland
  • organised a paired reading project
  • gifted Bookbug and Read, Write, Count bags to P1–3s
  • taken part in book prizes like The Bookbug Picture Book Prize or the Scottish Teenage Book Prize
  • found ways to bring families and the community together with books and stories
  • taken part in any bookish activities, whether using our resources or coming up with your own ideas
