Reading has the power to change lives and enjoying reading in childhood has a huge impact on educational attainment and future wellbeing. The First Minister’s Reading Challenge aims to give every child and young person in Scotland the opportunity to experience the benefits that reading for pleasure brings.
The Challenge is open to primary and secondary schools as well as libraries, youth groups, sports clubs and other community groups, and it’s completely free to get involved. Ask your child’s teacher or group leader if they have registered, how your child can participate and how you can support them at home.
If you're a home educator, you can take part in the First Minister's Reading Challenge by registering you and your child as a community group. Once registered, you'll be able to access a variety of resources with activity ideas to try together, as well as order Reading Passports to complete at home. You'll also have the opportunity to share your child's reading journey with us and be in with a chance of winning a national award.
